Brrr - it's Cold

Driving into Borrego Springs
Everywhere, folks are saying the same thing - "Brrrr, it's cold".  The difference is that cold down here is no comparison to the cold back home.  Here, we may get a degree or so of frost (maybe), there is snow in the mountains, and the wind has a real chill to it.  The upside - the sun is shining brightly and if you can get out of the wind, the sun is warm.
Lunch on the road
This past week was pretty quiet.  We did take a couple of off-road trips.  One of my favourite is Grapevine Canyon.  It is an easy, very pretty drive .  This was not to be this time as a huge fire went through the area last summer and in it's wake is acres and acres and acres of burnt and scarred vegetation.  The drive was enjoyable anyway and it was a fun trip.

Agave Plant in Bloom
Since we have spent the past few days just hanging close to the motorhome, we decided to go on another trip up Coyote Canyon.  This trip is a little more challenging than the others as we cross streams and go up roads of rock.  Although most of the vegetation is very dry this year, and there have been no desert flowers, we did come across a blooming agave. Once this plant blooms, it dies.  The part that holds the blossom looks very much like a huge asparagus as it grows until the blossom appears.  The photo shows the height of the blossom stem.

On our way home we pass many citrus groves.  The grapefruit in particular seem to be very plentiful as they seem to be in clusters.

The weather is supposed to warm up next week so I hope that the proposed warm-up filters north.

I hope everyone has a great week, and until next week, take care.
